  PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY DEPARTMENT I would highly recommend the ophthalmology department in Krosno, because the atmosphere there is unlike a stay at a National Health Fund (NFZ) facility. No one—no doctor, paramedic, or nurse—had a "bad day," as is often the case in hospitals. Thank you for your immense patience and empathy with my son. We've had our follow-up checkup and know that the strabismus procedure was performed flawlessly. After returning home, my son is a different child; he sees much better and is happy. I'm pregnant, and my son's anesthesia was very difficult. The nurse didn't have to "take care of me" because I'm just a parent, but she was very supportive, for which I'm very grateful. This wasn't her responsibility, but rather a heartfelt gesture. What also positively surprised me was the ubiquitous peace in the department. Although the children occasionally ran down the hallway (of course, as parents, we didn't allow them to disturb other patients), no one interrupted them; everyone smiled understandingly. ONE NOTE: It would be good if children weren't placed in large rooms with adults. Eye diseases often affect older people (we're talking about people aged 70 and over here...). I was very bothered by the man in the wheelchair disturbing the nighttime silence, banging around, and repeatedly waking us up. I reported this to the nurse, who responded immediately, for which I'm grateful. Another nurse was chatting with a friend on speakerphone, which woke my son up several times right after the procedure. He was very "crazy" when he woke up because he still didn't know what was going on, and he was also irritated by all the wires and plastic tape protectors he had on his face, so sleep was beneficial for him and for me as a parent a few hours after the procedure. Elderly people need naps during the day, while children need exercise; they need constant chatting and playing. A 4-year-old boy can't sit still for two days without exercise or play – such a stay is more stressful when you have to keep the well-being and peace of mind of the older people in the room in mind. That's why it was so disappointing. There are smaller rooms where it would be better to put children alone. Procedures are planned in advance; perhaps this could be better organized? The screens in a 5-person room are a bit too small.

  I don't recommend Dr. Piotr Wajda from the Gynecology Department. He treats patients very objectively, yells, and shows no respect or empathy. I hope karma comes back someday. I feel sorry for the staff. The midwives are clearly used to the situation, as they kept apologizing for the doctor and saying they sympathized with the situation. This boor shouldn't even call himself a doctor. The others I dealt with also showed no empathy.

  Alina, the doctor, should have had her license to practice revoked long ago. The way she treats patients in the gynecology ward, it's a miracle no one has been hurt yet. After meeting with the doctor, I refused admission to the hospital, even though she claimed labor hadn't started and she was being dramatic. You can tell the doctor that I gave birth four hours later at Profamila :)
