I strongly advise against it, especially to pregnant women. I lost my baby at 21 weeks because of him. He downplayed my shortening cervix and moved an existing polyp on my cervix so that, as he claimed, it would fall off faster (you don't move polyps during pregnancy!). He said the reported pain and cramps were normal. A week after my polyp fell off, I gave birth (according to medical advice, I had a miscarriage). Two hours before the incident, I was in Dr. Winnicki's office with bleeding. He didn't do an ultrasound, put his hand in, and said it might be a placental abruption. He told me to go to the hospital. When I asked about the pessary, he replied that it's only inserted when you're dilated. This is utter nonsense. The pessary is inserted when the cervix is shortening. If you want a happy birth, choose another doctor, not this old guy. His knowledge is far from perfect. I DO NOT ADVISE, and not just because of the misfortune I experienced. Dr. Winnicki should retire.
